PUBLICATION

Editorial standards.

Accuracy and sourcing

We verify factual claims against primary and official sources whenever they are available. Time-sensitive information must carry a publication or update date and, where useful, a visible “last checked” date. Anonymous or second-hand claims are not presented as established fact.

Editorial independence

Editorial judgment is separate from advertising, partnerships and affiliate relationships. A commercial relationship does not purchase a favorable review, a ranking position or omission of relevant criticism.

Reviews and recommendations

We distinguish direct experience from desk research and attributed reporting. We do not imply that a writer visited a place when that has not happened. Selection criteria must be clear enough for a reader to understand why a place is included.

Hosted and sponsored work

Hosted travel, gifts, affiliate links and sponsored content are disclosed. Sponsored articles are labeled at the top of the page and excluded from independent editorial rankings unless the commercial relationship is also disclosed in the relevant entry.

Use of AI tools

AI tools may assist with research organization, transcription, translation drafts, data formatting and technical production. No article should be published solely because an automated system generated it. A human editor is responsible for source verification, final wording, image rights and publication.

Corrections

We correct material errors promptly. Significant changes receive a correction or update note explaining what changed and when. Minor typographical corrections may be made without a note.

Safety

Mountain conditions change. Editorial guides do not replace official information, local authorities, qualified guides, emergency services or a traveler’s judgment.
