Hotels in the Dolomites

The best Dolomites hotel is the one that improves the days outside it.

A hotel may be a grand Alpine institution, a family house with generations of memory, a modern spa retreat or a design-led base beside a lift. We assess the whole proposition rather than sorting by star category alone.

What we look at

Location

Which lift, trail, town and road does the property actually connect to? How long is the final transfer in snow? Can guests walk to dinner?

Character

Does the hotel feel rooted in its valley, or could the same interiors be placed in any mountain resort?

Service

Mountain hospitality is operational. Shuttles, ski storage, guide relationships, weather judgment and the ability to solve a disrupted day matter.

Food

Half-board can be a strength or a constraint. We consider whether the kitchen deserves repeated evenings and whether outside dining is realistic.

Wellness

A large spa is not automatically a good spa. Light, noise, child access, treatment quality, outdoor space and post-ski flow matter more than the number of rooms.

Season

Some properties are better in deep winter; others make most sense in summer or autumn. Seasonal closure is normal and should be confirmed directly.

Houses to know

Aman Rosa Alpina, San Cassiano

A historic Alta Badia address reworked as an Aman resort. It makes San Cassiano an international hotel destination in its own right.

Hotel La Perla, Corvara

A Ladin house with a strong sense of family, food and place in central Corvara.

COMO Alpina Dolomites, Alpe di Siusi

A contemporary resort directly on the plateau, suited to guests who want the landscape and hotel to form one experience.

Hotel Fanes, San Cassiano

A long-established five-star wellness base above the village.

Ciasa Salares, Armentarola

A food-led family hotel outside central San Cassiano, well placed for a retreat-style stay.

Gardena Grödnerhof, Ortisei

A classic five-star hotel in central Ortisei with a substantial spa and gourmet focus.

Hotel de LEN, Cortina d’Ampezzo

A smaller contemporary address in central Cortina, useful for travellers who prioritise town access over resort scale.

Forestis, Plose

Outside the eight core towns but relevant to a broader Dolomites itinerary: a retreat above Bressanone where architecture and seclusion lead the experience.

How inclusion works

This page is an editorial starting point, not a complete directory. Inclusion is based on location, identity, service proposition, relevance and verified current operation. A commercial relationship must be disclosed and cannot buy a verdict.

Always confirm opening dates, rates, room configuration and facilities directly with the hotel.
