Editorial Methodology
The Dolomites change by season, weather, ownership and operating calendar. A useful guide needs a visible method.
Sources
We prioritise:
- official tourism and municipal information;
- lift and transport operators;
- hotel and restaurant websites;
- direct confirmation from an authorised representative;
- public registers and official regulations;
- current Michelin Guide listings;
- qualified mountain professionals for specialist context;
- reputable original reporting.
Search snippets, copied portal descriptions and anonymous social claims are not sufficient for a material fact.
First-hand reporting
A writer may use first-person language only for an experience that genuinely occurred. A researched page must not imply a stay, meal, ski day or inspection that did not happen.
Hotel and restaurant selection
Inclusion considers location, identity, service proposition, relevance, current operation and the quality of available evidence. A commercial relationship is disclosed and does not guarantee inclusion or positive judgment.
“Best” pages must explain their selection logic and show a checked date.
Mountain information
Route, snow, weather and lift information can change rapidly. We provide planning orientation, not live safety instructions. Users must consult operators, local authorities and qualified guides.
Names and languages
The region uses Italian, German and Ladin names. We choose the form that best helps the intended reader and include alternatives where they prevent confusion.
Byline integrity
Use a verified contributor or Dolomites.it Editorial Desk. Fictional biographies, invented mountain credentials and composite identities are prohibited.
AI and technology
Tools may support organisation, translation and quality control. They are not sources and cannot replace verification.
Corrections and updates
Practical pages carry an updated or checked date. A substantive factual correction receives a note. A normal seasonal change may be recorded as an update.
Images
Use original, licensed, commissioned, owner-authorised or otherwise legally usable images. Do not take photographs from social media or booking platforms without rights.
